Intermediate Swing: An Introduction to West Coast Swing

Day Of Week:
Sunday
Time:
04:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Instructor:
Joel White

West Coast Swing (WCS) can be danced to almost any music written in 4/4 time at speeds ranging from very slow to very fast. WCS is characerized by it's destinctive elastic look that results from the extention and compression between partners, and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. The dance allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together, putting WCS on a short list of dances that put a premium on improvisation. As such this class will cater to more experienced dancers: the basic steps, posture, and techniques will be taught.
