John de PfyfferJohn de Pfyffer is a Licentiate Member of the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association in both Ballroom Standard and Latin dancing, and an A class Judge. He formed and began teaching for the University of Victoria Jive & Ballroom Dance Club in 1986. The dance club soon became the largest club on campus and is responsible for starting most of the Social Dance scene (Swing, Salsa, and Argentine Tango) and reviving the Ballroom Dance community in Victoria. John is a full-time, professional dance instructor in Victoria BC who teaches Ballroom, Latin and Swing dance through classes, workshops and private lessons. He also hosts dances and dance cruises. John teaches all levels, from those who have never danced before, through those taking medals tests at gold star levels or competing at the highest levels. His personal philosophy is that, at all levels, dancing, and learning to dance, should be an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. |

Tess KumlinBorn in Sweden, Tess started dancing ballet when she was five, and was horrible... She tried jazz, hip hop and tap before finding ballroom here at the UVic Ballroom Dance Club, and fell in love. Since then she has taught Ballroom and Latin dancing for four years, and started teaching classes for John de Pfyffer this past summer. She is constantly performing around her community, and has competed professionally. Tess has one course left to take before getting her degree in Recreation and Health Education with a minor in Environmental Studies at UVic. She has had the pleasure to see how much dancing benefits people, and loves teaching for the club where her dancing career started. |

Joel WhiteDear World: Joel White has been dancing in his living room for most of his life, and has been dancing in public places for several years - he started with musical theatre (and reserves the right to sing without provocation), and is now thoroughly enjoying standard ballroom, salsa and most of all westcoast swing. He's been dancing with the UVic Ballroom club for two years, and anticipates helping guide the club as a venue for people to learn to dance and meet other dancers, but most of all simply to let them go out and dance. |
