Hello everyone! This will be my 5th year with the club, my 3rd year on the executive and my 1st year as President. I started dancing when I was a little girl and have yet to stop, but I didn't quite find my niche until I discovered Ballroom and Salsa. I now, also dance with Salsa Caliente's Ladies and Training teams. I have found a family of wonderful friends who also all love dance though the club. I am so excited to be able to continue with the work we have been doing to make this club a fun place to learn and socialize.
I look forward to meeting you all on dance floor!

Hey everyone! I have been dancing since I was little, and until October 2010 was training as a professional ballet dancer here in Victoria, BC. I have studied a wide range of dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, and now ballroom, salsa, and swing. I fell in love with ballroom dancing my first semester at UVic, and now dance as much as possible! The UVic Ballroom Dance Club is a great environment in which to learn and improve, and the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. I have found from personal experience that ballroom dancing, as well as salsa and swing, are great activities where you can come out of your shell and be you, while having a great time with fantastic people. Whether you have danced before or are brand new to the dancing world, this is a great place to fall in love with dancing, and soon it will become a natural part of your life. I hope to see you on the dance floor!

Hello everyone! This will be my third year as a member of the UVic Ballroom Club, and my first as an executive. I never really took any formal dance training until I joined ballroom (unless you count a failed attempt at Kinder Ballet where I thought that spinning in circles by myself was much more enjoyable than paying attention in class!). Fast forward to today, and not a day goes by that I don't dance, whether it be on the social floor or at my house. That in itself is a testament to how addicting ballroom, and the club, can be. Like all the execs, I look forward to seeing you on the dance floor!

Warning: by joining the UVic Ballroom Dance Club, you must be prepared to meet fun and quirky people, learn a lifelong skill, and dance your days and nights away.

My name is Cecilia and I am addicted to Ballroom Dancing. My addiction started in my first semester at UVic with Standard Ballroom, dancing only a couple hours on the weekend. The addiction has now expanded to include any style of dance someone is willing to teach me, weekly social dancing, and anywhere from 6-12 hours of dance a week.

I have been dancing since I was six, quickly finding my passion in theatrical stage dancing. Upon my arrival to the university I found the UVic Ballroom Dance Club and was overwhelmed by the new styles of dance and the amazing, enthusiastic group of people that comprised the club. I have since spent the last two years dancing almost every weekend and I will argue that ballroom dancing is one of the most exhilarating feelings. If you are looking for an encouraging environment, a fun-loving group of friends and the opportunity to learn so many different styles of dance while achieving any level you wish to achieve, the UVic Ballroom Dance Club is for you. I look forward to seeing you on the dance floor.

Hello everyone! My name is Maddy and this is my third year at the UVic Ballroom Club, my first as an executive. While I've long harbored a passion for all things dance, it wasn't until I joined the Ballroom Club that passion blossomed into a glorious obsession. I now take every chance I can to dance, whether on the social floor, the street, my house or someone else's. I love the grace of Ballroom, the fun and fluidity of East and West Coast Swing, the sensuality of Tango and Blues dancing, and I love the warmth and inclusivity that permeates the dance world. Whether you've always longed to move to music or have long been doing so, whether you've ever wondered what it would be like to dance or are just looking to broaden your horizons and meet new people, the UVic Ballroom Dance Club is the place for you.
See you on the dance floor!

I remember the first time I considered ballroom dancing. It was clubs day a few years back and me and a group of friends laughingly suggested ballroom dancing. Yeah right we said...
Never the less, that weekend we ended up taking the salsa class together. And the next day the ballroom class. And the next one... and the next one...
What I didn't realize back then is just what I was getting into. This is by far one of the most addicting things I have tried at UVic, but it's not just the dance. It's the people and the personalities that will make you come back, our amazing instructors, and the chance to meet and interact with people outside of your normal social group. Gentlemen - you will be treated like a rare commodity. Ladies, we will waltz you.

Hello dancers! I have been dancing causally since my parents suggested I take a teen social dance class up in Comox in the summer of 2003. I have been involved in the club for 4/5 years now and finally got drafted onto the executive. I look forward to seeing you all out on the dance floor.
