About Our Club

Welcome to the UVic Ballroom Dance Club (UVBDC)!  As a Vikes Rec Club, we believe that ballroom dancing improves physical and social wellbeing and enhances quality of life! We offer lessons not only in Standard Ballroom (like waltz, foxtrot, and tango), but also Latin Ballroom, East Coast Swing, Salsa, Mergengue and Bachata!  You don’t need a partner or any dance experience (having two left feet is fine!), just show up and get ready to have fun, meet new people, and, of course, learn how to dance!

Summer!!!

I hope you are all having a fantastic summer!

If you are in Victoria over the summer dancing has not stoped!! We are still going out to Swing City and Cafe Casablanca and would love to see you there too! If you need more information on either of these events see our "where to dance" page or contact us.

For those of you interested in continuing your dance education over the summer, please feel free to contact me or any of our faboulouse instructors and we would be happy to help get you in classes again.

End of Year Masquerade!

Our End of Year Masquerade is just arround the corner and we'd love to see you all there.

The event will be held at Cadborrow Bay United Church (2625 Arbutus Road, Victoria, BC)

If you need help finding a mask please contact one of the executive.
Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. You can get them at club or from any club executive.

Dress is semi-formal, please no jeans and no street shoes (dress or dance shoes only please).

Free movie and workshops

Come and dance around for a while before classes heat up. Read the description in the news feed and rally your friends for a cheesy dance flic and some great workshops.

Our first big event of the new year is rapidly approaching! On Sunday, Januray 8th come out and join us for the afternoon, where we're putting on a series of 4 free workshops and 2 movie showings.

Classes resume on the 7th and 8th of January! Check out the finalized spring schedule and get ready for a fantastic semester of dance!

The new January Class schedule has been finalized! I hope to see you all out on th dance floor soon!!

Dancing Break!!

There are no classes this weekend due to reading break! 

Have a fantastic break and we'll see you all back on the dance floor on the 19th and 20th.

If you are looking for danceish thing to do this weekend there are opptions!

Thursday Salsa Practice from 10 - 11:30pm with a begginer lesson from 9 - 10pm (10$ with a 2$ min charge at the bar)

Swing City on Friday with a West Coast Swing lesson from 8 - 9pm followed by dancing until 12am (8$ for students, 10$ general puplic)

Cafe Casablanca on Saturday with a lesson from 8:30 - 9:30pm followed by dancing until 1am (10$ with a 2$ min charge at the bar)

Halloween Extravaganza

Halloween Social!!!

October 29th at Cadboro Bay United Church

Doors open at 7pm, and the dance goes till 12am

There will be prizes for the best costume, so dress up in your Halloween best!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Just a reminder that there are no classes next weekend due to thanksgiving! So enjoy the time with your familly and we'll see you October 15th and 16th.
